Portable Penetrator

The Portable Penetrator from SecPoint is the world's first vulnerability audit and penetration testing appliance for consultants who don't have extensive IT security knowledge.

The Penetrator features:

  • Portable laptop appliance
  • Wireless LAN IP auditing
  • Straight forward reporting
  • Audits any OS or IP
  • Reseller logo on reports
  • Easy-to-run vulnerability auditing
  • Increases reseller service revenue
  • 10000+ vulnerability signatures
  • Vulnerability cracking capability
  • Helps close sale for SecPoint Protector

After 10 years of product development SecPoint have created a simple to use scanner with a vulnerability database of over 10,000 unique signatures. This extensive database is suitable for auditing all types of IP equipment. It not only audits the standard elements of a computer network. It also audits non standard IPs such as those of the IP PBX equipment. The wireless capability of the Portable Penetrator ensures that it can also audit the wireless IPs of a LAN.

It can be used to audit external as well as internal IPs. In recent years Irish companies have been becoming more sensitive to Internal hacking by their own employees. In fact many studies show that the most destructive hacking takes place behind the firewall protection by the very people we know and trust. For this reason IT Resellers are being asked to carry out internal vulnerability audits. These vulnerability audits have been greatly simplified by the Portable Penetrator. No longer are highly trained IT security consultants required to run the audits. IT resellers without any specialised knowledge can also use the Penetrator and generate detailed reports. It is also possible for resellers to have their own Logo and contact details as the only contact details on the report.

After running a vulnerability audit, an easy to understand vulnerability report breaks down the vulnerabilities into high, medium and low risk. The report also gives us step-by-step details of what must be done to fix each of the vulnerabilities. It is up to the reseller whether he wants to include the fixes on the customer report or not. Fixes are services which can be charged on and generate extra revenue.

Sometimes the easiest overall fix is to simply install another product by SecPoint called the Protector. The unique selling point of the Protector in this situation is that the Protector uses the same database to protect the network rather than audit it. Therefore any vulnerabilities discovered by the Penetrator will be protected for by the Protector.

The Penetrator has a growing set of vulnerabilities which can be called on to hack into the target network using a simple click of the mouse. This is a pure penetration test which until the development of the Penetrator would have cost an arm and a leg. Sometimes the only proof an end-user will accept that his network vulnerabilities are vulnerabilities is that the consultant actually cracks one of them and shows him a prompt on the his server terminal!
