May 3rd 2005 - THE PROTECTOR - ALL-IN-ONE INTERNET SECURITY

Launched today on to the Irish marketplace is 'The Protector' from SecPoint - a comprehensive Internet protection solution providing an unprecedented level of security against, virus, spam, spyware, phishing and other undesirable Internet traffic.

The Protector is 'out-of-the-box ready' and comprises a 1U appliance pre-loaded with 10 security modules - Anti-Spyware, Anti-Spam, Anti-Virus, Intrusion Prevention, Anti-Phishing, Anti-Worm, Anti-P2P, Anti-Chat, Anti-Freemail and Firewall.

Multiple daily automatic updates of the modules, via an encrypted download, ensure continuous protection. Individual modules can be switched on or off independently for users who have existing or preferred solutions.

Two Anti-Virus engines are used to scan all protocols going through the Protector in both directions, unlike competitive products which typically scan only one or two protocols. Sandbox technology is used within the Norman Anti-Virus engine to detect viruses from their patterns, even if the virus is not yet in its virus database.

The Spam filter is a customised version of Spam Assassin and uses both black list and a points system, with user configurable quarantine options.

Spyware is blocked from entering the network by the Anti-Spyware module, which can also detect, identify and neutralise existing infections.

Intrusion Prevention uses Secpoint's own extensive database of signatures - the largest in the world - to stop hackers who may have succeeded in getting past a firewall or router.

The Protector is easy to install between the Internet firewall and the LAN servers. No reconfiguration of the network is necessary and installation wizards provide for fast set up.

The entry-level system, for 10-50 users, is based on a 1U device with a 1GHz CPU, 256MB RAM and a 40GB hard drive, is rackmountable and comes complete with ten security modules pre-loaded and 12 months updates.

Higher hardware specifications with higher bandwidths and redundancy are also available. The Protector is also upgradeable with a licence key for user expansion and there is a 2-year warranty as standard.

The Protector is exclusively available in Ireland from Kilross Network Protection Ltd, a leading Value Added Distributor of IT security hardware and software products, based in Clane, Co Kildare.
